Educational Foundation


The purpose of the Spoon River Valley Educational Foundation, NFP is to provide extraordinary educational opportunities and experiences for pre-school, elementary, high school and college students who reside in the territory of the Spoon River Valley community Unit District No. 4, and above and beyond those provided by the public school system.

The Spoon River Valley Educational Foundation, NFP is not established for monetary profit or financial gain and no part of the earnings or assets shell inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to, its members, trustees, officers or other private person.  The Spoon River Valley Educational Foundation, NFP shall not engage in any activities not permitted to carried on by a corporation exempt from Federal Income Tax under the Internal Revenue Code, Section 501 (c)(3), or by a corporation, contributions to which are deductible under Section 170(c)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

         First Awards - Foundation awarded to Graduating Seniors Scholarships


  • Thus far, the foundation has awarded a total of $62,750 in educational scholarships to 47 students of Spoon River Valley Schools.


  • The total value of Foundation Educational Scholarships awarded to students at Spoon River Valley High School has exceeded $100,000.

How to Donate

Checks or money orders should be made payable to Spoon River Valley Educational Foundation, NFP and be mailed to the Foundation at 35265 North Illinois Highway 97, London Mills, IL 61544.

Donations of marketable real estate, life insurance policies with cash values, and direct distributions from IRAs are also welcomed.  

Potential donors who are interested in establishing memorial funds in the Foundation to honor family members, former teachers, or other individuals or who would like more information about making contributions to the Foundation may contact any of the Directors listed above or call Larry Huffman, Chairperson of the Foundation Board, at 815/224-2912.
